Awaiting purpose

Experimenting with HDR in Rapa Nui. It's was interesting to me that the Moai that face the ocean had not yet been declared to any specific person. Moai where carved to represent a noble and protect them in spirit, however many where made in anticipation, such was the fashion of the day, but never received a spirit to protect after the religion or cult was abruptly abandoned to make way for the Birdman cult.

Photo of the Day - Bryce Canyon

In the early hours of the morning at the top of the western viewpoint of Bryce Canyon in Utah. Whats interesting about this canyon is that technically it's not a canyon. The formations are created by a slightly different process of "normal" erosion, that is headward erosion.
